Born on 19th August 1955 in the village of Lipka (Wielkopolskie Province).

In 1978, graduated from the Faculty of Humanities at "Adam Mickiewicz" University in Poznań. In 1998, obtained specialization in social services from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Social Service Development Centre in Białobrzegi. Between 1978 and 1980 was a teacher at the Elementary School no. 5 in Piła.

1980-1990 - director of the bureau of Caritas Catholic Association. Initiator and, between 1990 and 2005, director of the "John Paul the Second" Welfare Home in Piła. Initiator of Piła Food Bank (1994) and Wielkopolskie Province Food Bank (1996). Has chaired both banks since their establishment. 1996-2005 - member of the board of the Polish Food Bank Federation.

1998-2005 - member of Piła City Council; its chairman (2002-2005).

2002-2005 - member of the Convention of the State Higher Vocational School in Piła.

In 1990, helped to establish the Humanitarian Assistance Foundation in Piła (now Humanitarian Assistance Association), and chaired its board 1991-2005. Deputy chairman of the board of the Volunteer Centre in Piła and of the "PRO SENIOR" Association, which he co-founded in 2001.

In the Sixth Term Senate was deputy chairman of the Family and Social Policy Committee and member of the Rules, Ethics and Senatorial Affairs Committee.

Member of the Civic Platform political party.

Married, has three children.
