Born on 3rd May 1942 in Chorzów.

In 1965 graduated from the Physical Education Faculty of Warsaw University of Physical Education with specialisation in soccer.

Is a long-time coach and sports activist. Began professional career as soccer player in Miejski Klub Sportowy "Zryw Chorzów". Then he payed in sports clubs: "Naprzód Lipiny" Świętochłowice (1960-1961), "Legia" Warszawa (1961-1965), "Ruch" Chorzów (1965-1971) and Chateauroux Club in France (1971-1972). Subsequently (1972-1979), worked as coach in BKS Bielsko (in Bielsko-Biała) and "Odra" Opole soccer clubs. In 1980-1981 - coordinating coach at Katowice District Soccer Association. Coached the Polish national soccer team from 1981 to 1985 (was its coach when the team won bronze medal at the 1982 World Championship in Spain) and between 1996 and 1997. In 1986 coached the Górnik Zabrze soccer team, when it won the Polish Championship. In subsequent years coached the national teams of Tunisia (1987-1990) and took it to the Olimpic Games in Seul (1988). Was also coach of the national team of the United Arab Emirates (1990-1995) and the Al Rayyan Club in Qatar (1997).

Since 2000 lectures at Katowice Academy of Physical Education.

Chairman of the Trade Union of Soccer Coaches and member of the Polish Soccer Association. 2001-2007 - deputy to the Silesian Provincial Parliament.

Has no political party affiliation.

Married, has three children.
